Woven cane brings lightness and texture to a booth, but in commercial use cane is also the first surface to break, usually from a knee, a bag buckle or a chair pushed back too hard. In this booth the Vienna-weave cane is mounted on a separate panel, screwed into the walnut frame. When it is damaged, the panel is unscrewed and replaced; the frame, seat and cushion remain.
An oatmeal lumbar cushion sits below the cane for comfort, and the seat is a separate cushion on a dark timber plinth. Cane is a natural material from rattan palm; it is lightweight and gives a sense of air in a room full of upholstery.
